The "2 year" longevity rating is very conservative.Again, I would encourage anyone to compare it to the aforementioned coatings, or any other industry leaders. It provides the thickest film of all the coatings manufactured by PBMG.I'm certain it will perform as well or better. I would encourage anyone to compare it to Cquartz, Gloss Coat, etc. It's the most chemical resistant coating manufactured by PBMG.Hold onto your seat, I'm going to tell you like it is. Here's some "inside info" on BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat. This method will apply to all Coatings regardless of chemical makeup IMO.On, posted this about Blackfire Crystal Coat: You want to give the product time to flash and adhere without interfering during this time. If you want to lay down a second coat make sure it is applied within 30-60 minutes. With the surface being "scuffed" now it is ready for application of your new product. What I would do is "scuff" the surface in the way of a finishing polish such as SF4000, Wolfgang FG, M205 etc with a finishing pad to make sure it is ready for application. Now, a coating won't behave exactly like the above paint job but it still needs a prepped surface to adhere to otherwise it will prematurely fail. After a while that paint will being to flake off as it never had a proper foundation to grab onto. If not, you will run into problems as the paint being laid down will not properly bond, begin to sag after a coat or two, and have runs. In order for the new paint to be applied and bond correctly the surface needs to be scuffed for the paint to stick. Imagine if you will, you take your car in for paint repair. If you are going to add another coat it is suggested that is applied within an hour otherwise it may not properly bond to itself. The problem with quartz based coatings such as the BlackFire, CQuartz, and others is that they form an incredibly slick glass like surface and are non-porus. I will surely try to make that happen this weekend and report back.Ĭould the blackfire coating go over cquartz, or would the cquartz need to be polished off? I wanted to get a wash and beading video in last weekend but could not get to it. I will have to seek out some of these towels. That is a great point on minimizing the potential of smearing on removal. I doubt anyone has yet posted a water behavior video for it. Please do make a quick video of the water behavior (bead and sheet mode) since we get to see that a lot with other coatings and would be great to see this in action. I haven't tried these but they are typically in use by some of the coating reviews I've seen and are designed for better removal.ĭo you (or anyone else) know how soon should we be able to layer it (hopefully an hour or two)? Gyeon baldwipe, or a Carpro large suede, MicrofiberMadness yellow fellow etc). Mike, I think there may have been lesser smearing if the towel used would've been a more shorter nap (e.g. I did notice that the BlackFire product darkened the surface and gave a glass like shine. For looks, feel, durability, etc I would say the BlackFire product. For outright ease of use I would give the advantage to the PBL coating as it has a pump sprayer that atomizes the product on application making it very easy to spread. However I feel that the two are on par with each other in terms of ease of use although they behave differently. Perhaps someone could provide some feedback. I'm sure there are a few members here that could explain the differences. Honestly I don't know the intricate details on what separates the two of them. Sure they are both coatings but their chemical composition is a bit different. Ease of use will most likely be #1 priority.Ĭomparing the two products is almost an apples to oranges comparison. Doing research is key to finding what fits you. With all the new coatings coming to market in rapid succession it can make your head spin. Disregarding any cost differences, how does PBL compare to BlackFire Crystal Coat? There seems to be a heavy promotional push for Pinnacle Black Label - wet, slick, long lasting, easy to apply, etc. That said, the number of coatings that have popped up in the last few years is amazing to me. I'm considering switching from sealants to coatings.
